Biographical Text

Albert Bowden played for Exeter City in the 1945/46 season in the specially-arranged competitions prior to the resumption of 'normal' football the following season. Although Albert appeared in two FA Cup games for his local club, he was destined never to appear for the Grecians in an official Football League match.

Albert made his debut in a 1-3 defeat at Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in October 1945 in a Division Three South (South of the Thames) fixture. He appeared three more times in this one-off competition which was contested between August 1945 and December 1945. He then played five games in the Division Three South Cup (Southern Section) that took place from January to April 1946.

Albert’s only ‘official’ City appearances were in the two-legged FA Cup ties against Trowbridge Town in November 1945. He wasn't selected for the matches against Newport County in the subsequent round.
