MODEL PASS GIVES EXETER SNAP WINNER
Torquay United 0, Exeter City 1
Torquay were to blame for letting Exeter make it a "Derby" double. They had sufficient chances to win a rousing struggle, but indifferent finishing and excellent goalkeeping of Chesters kept Exeter's goal intact. Once a header from Morton passed along the length of the Exeter goal line and back into play. Another time Johnson cut in and had Chesters beaten with a drive which struck the foot of a post. Honours went to Exeter defenders. Packed their goal splendidly in face of continual raids. One of their few attacks brought them a goal after 18 minutes, Williams scoring from a model pass by Urmson. Torquay often played pretty foot ball, but their forwards were not sufficiently decisive in front of goal.

Exeter City-Chesters; Brown, Simpson; Clarke, Hobbs, Shadwell; Thompson, Scott, Williams, McGill, Urmson.
