Though losing Chesters, injured, in the first half at Walsall, the City went down fighting this afternoon. The "Saddlers" played inspiring football in the first half. Their shooting was brilliant, and it was in this half that they laid the foundation for victory. After the interval Exeter were the better team. Chesters was off the field for about ten minutes, and with Stimpson in goal two goals were scored against Exeter in that period.
Walsall: Leckie; Shelton, Wiles; Richmond, Morgan, Bradford; Woolhouse, Landells, Dunderdale, Cunningham, Bulger.
Exeter: Chesters; Brown, Stimpson; Clarke, Hobbs, Shadwell;Thompson, Scott, Williams, McGill, Urmson. Referee:- Mr F.J.Lowe, of Bristol.
There was an amazing start, three goals being scored in less than four minutes. The early marksmen were Bulger and Cunningham for the home team and Shadwell for Exeter. Twelve minutes after the start Chesters left his goal in an effort to check Dunderdale and was kicked in the face. With Stimpson in goal first Bradford and then Landells scored for Walsall. The only goal of the second half was obtained by T.Scott for Exeter. The attendance was 4,422.

Southern League match at St James's Park, Exeter. Harold Webb, the former Exeter City centre-half, was at right back for Newport. Both goalkeepers played well, but weak finishing cost Exeter City a point.
City Reserves:- Tierney; Boyle, Mellish; Burke, Bamsey, Barnes; Baker, Pollard, Ebdon, Pope, F.Smith.
Newport Reserves:- Ashman; Webb, Ellis; Foot, Lawrence, Richards; Derrick, Oakley, Pritchard, Hickman, Appleby.
Twenty-three minutes had gone when Exeter took the lead with a nice goal by F.Smith. Two minutes later Oakley equalised, and after 33 minutes Derrick gave Newport the lead. Smith scored for Exeter in the second half.
