WALSALL
Confidence restored, Exeter City today gave their best display of the season. They scored three goals without response from Walsall, and with any luck would have at least doubled the margin. Fore and aft the City were much the superior team, and Walsall, a moderate set of players indeed, were completely outplayed. Exeter should now be in good heart for next week's third round Cup tie against Oldham Athletic. The goals were scored by Williams (first half), Pope, and Owen.

BATH CITY 3
EXETER CITY RESERVES 2.
Nineteen minutes from the start Hicks scored for Bath City from a centre by Buckley. Two minutes later the teams were level again, Exeter equalising by a penalty kick well taken by Hobbs. Early in the second half Exeter took the lead through Smith, but the goal was hotly disputed. Bath kept up a hot bombardment of the Exeter goal, and equalised when Hobbs kicked the ball against Buckley, off whom it rebounded into the net. Elliott scored the winning goal for Bath with a good shot, despite Tierney's splendid effort to save.
