Bideford v Exeter City Reserves

RFA (Topsham Barracks) v Exeter City Reserves

Saturday, February 15th 1936.

EXETER CITY 0 RANGERS 0.

A goalless draw did not do Exeter City justice against Queen's Park Rangers at St James's Park this afternoon. The visitors, defending for threequarters of the game on a frostbound pitch, were lucky to get away with a point, but they had in Mason a remarkably fine goalkeeper. The attendance was 4,000.

Very little constructive work was seen from the visitors, who, despite their high League position and the fact that they hold an outside chance of promotion, were one of the crudest teams seen at Exeter this season. Cheetham, their much-lauded centre-forward, was not prominent in this match. He was too well watched by Robinson, an outstanding figure in the Exeter ranks. Robinson was in fact the best half back on the field today, while Miller gave a polished display on his return to the team. Exeter's attack was better in approach work than in finishing strength, Hurst being the liveliest raider and showing that the right wing is his best position. Merrie, playing his first game at home, did not get many chances against a robust defence.

BIDEFORD v EXETER CITY RESERVES.

The visit of the City Reserves to the Bideford Sports Ground in connection with the Exeter and District League drew a very good attendance despite the cold and misty weather. Nothing was scored in the first half, but eighteen minutes from the start of the second Hoyle scored for Exeter, who thus won by one goal to nil.

RFA. v Exeter City Reserves

Playing at Topsham Barracks, the City Reserves beat the Royal Field Artillery by nine goals to two. The military conceded seven goals in the first half, when they were badly outplayed, but improved as the game wore on. Bevan, in whom Southend United are said to be interested, and Addison scored for the R. A., who battled pluckily against more experienced opponents. Exeter's goals were scored by McArthur (7), Sutherley (1), and Jarrett (1).
