Saturday, January 23rd.
LUTON TOWN 2 EXETER CITY 2.
At one point in today's game at Kenilworth Road, Luton Town not only looked like losing their one hundred percent ground record, which they did by dropping a point to Exeter City, but also of losing the match. They began well enough, and the City defence had a very rough time for twenty minutes during which Chesters performed wonders in the Exeter goal. He was beaten by Stephenson, from Payne's pass, and this was the only goal of the first half. Luton had many chances during this part of the game, and Payne in the most glaring fashion missed at least three.
More Confidence.
After the interval the City, profiting by Luton's slackness, were inspired with more confidence, and first Williams, and then Owen took advantage of defensive gaps to give the Grecians surprise a 21 lead. Ten minutes from the end Luton rallied and Exeter from that point were fortunate to escape defeat, but Payne only managed to score one equalising goal and Stephenson twice shot wide. Luton's defence was unsound, for Smith was disposed to allow his namesake of Exeter too much scope, and Nelson was below form. For Exeter Williams, Smith, Bamsey and Chesters were the pick of the team.
Luton:- Dolman; Mackey, T. Smith; Martin, Nelson, Fellowes; Hodge, Dawes, Payne, Roberts, Stephenson.
City: Chesters; Brown, Boyle; Clarke, Bamsey, Shadwell; F.Smith, Johnson, Williams, McGill, Owen.
Referee:- Mr W.P.Harper, of Stourbridge. Attendance 10,000.

CITY RESERVES 1
NORWICH CITY RESERVES 3.
Norwich City Reserves led at the interval by one goal, scored for them by Clare, to nil. Exeter were awarded a penalty early in the second half, but although Hobbs netted with a high drive the kick was ordered to be re-taken through Exeter players advancing. The second shot went straight to Knox, who saved.
