Southern League
Argyle Reserves v Exeter City Reserves

Saturday, February 22nd 1936.

Exeter City v Bournemouth

Exeter City lost two more points on their own ground today when they were defeated 3 - 1 by Bournemouth. Worse still, they also lost their goalkeeper, Chesters, who dislocated his shoulder in making a vain attempt to prevent Bournemouth's second goal and colliding violently with Akers. Gray donned the jersey, proving to be an able deputy goalkeeper, and was only beaten once, by Riley, in the second half. Jack Scott opened the scoring six minutes after the start, and Riley equalised ten minutes later. Nine minutes after that came the goal by Akers and the accident to Chesters.

City: Chesters; Gray, Miller; Clarke, Robinson, Angus; Hurst, Ebdon, Merrie, McLean, J.Scott.

Bournemouth:- Mellors; King, Bellis; Farrow, Pincott, Moralee; Akers, Smith, Riley, Chalmers, Parris.

Rain was falling heavily at the commencement of the match, and continued for some time afterwards. The attendance, numbering 4,000, considering the weather, was quite good.
