NOTTS COUNTY

Outclassed in every phease of constructive football, Exeter City disappointed their supporters in their first home match against a heavier, faster, and more skilful Notts County side, captained by Hugh Gallacher, the old Scottish International. Play had been in progress for a quarter of an hour when the quick thinking Gallacher, gathering a pass from McLenahan, shot from the edge of the penalty area, and the ball flashed into the top corner of the net. Within seven minutes two more goals were scored, and that was the finish of Exeter City.
