Two veteran players were the stars of this afternoon's match at St James's Park, where Exeter City delighted a large crowd by defeating Ipswich by three clear goals. Brown was Exeter's big personality. He was a cool defender who cleared his lines effectively and without fuss. MoLuckie was an Ipswich stalwart. He is a great footballer, as polished in attack as he is in defence. Millar, playing what was easily his best game since coming to England, was a revelation to many of the crowd. He made every use of his great speed, trapped the ball cleanly, provided a few chances for his inside men, and scored the last of Exeter's three goals.

There were ten thousand spectators. Exeter took the lead after the fifteen minutes when a shot from Bowl hit McLuckie's foot, the ball striking the inside of the far post and going into net. Ebdon added the second goal from close range just before half time. Exeter City, with four points from their first three fixtures, are eleventh in the League table.

Two players were the stars of the match at St James' Parkwhere Exeter City delighted a large crowd by defeating Ipswich Town. William Brown was City's true star of the show, as he showed coolness in defence, and cleared his lines effectively and without fuss.

James Millar also shone for the Grecians. He was as polished in attack as he was in defence, playing what was easily his best game since joining the club. He was a revelation to many of the crowd, making use of his great speed and providing chances for his inside men, as well as scoring the third of Exeter's goals. City took the lead after 15 minutes when a shot from Harry Bowl hit Ipswich defender, McLuckie's foot, and the ball struck the inside of the far post before going into the net. Dick Ebdon netted the second goal from close range just before half-time as City continued to dominate the game against the League newcomers. With Millar wrapping up the win for Exeter with his team's third goalthis meant that the Grecians had earned four points from their opening three fixtures of the season and were eleventh in the Third Division South table.

There has been a tremendous revival of football interest in the city of Bath since Mr Alex Raisbeck, the old Scottish International, took over the management of the local olub.

Exeter City Reserves, represented by Blore; Barnes and Clarke, Coles, Bamsey, and Walker; Turnbull, Gueran,
Pollard, Green, and Sutherley, were defeated, deservedly, by a goal to nil.
