EXETER CITY 0 BOURNEMOUTH 0

The match between Exeter City and Bournemouth ended goal-less, and the City thus lost their first home point of the season. Nearly all the thrills came in the second half, which was in a striking contrast to the featureless exhibition which preceded the interval.

  • Before the match, as in other Football League grounds to day, the players of both sides lined up in the centre of the field while the National Anthem was played. This, coupled with music of a patriotic nature played by the Band, was a reminder of the country's deliverance from the threatened catastrophe of a war with Germany.
Fellowes, continuing to captain the City in spite of Bussey's return, won the toss, and early play favoured Exeter. In the first half the play was generally poor all-round, and although Bournemouth's defence held out against some well planned City attacks after the interval, the Cherries were lucky to get away with a point.

TUNBRIDGE WELLS 8
CITY RESERVES 1.

The City Reserves, though scoring first, were 3-1 in arrears at half-time. The defence made a tragic picture during the early part of the second half, conceding four goals in the first ten minutes. Banks (4), Bamford, Wood, and Robinson (2) scored for Tunbridge Wells Rangers and Gueran for Exeter Reserves.
