WALSALL 1 EXETER C 2.
Exeter City gained their second away win of the season today when they beat Walsall by two goals to one. The result was about fair in that the City were the better side after the first twenty minutes. Playing against the wind and up the slope in the opening half the Exeter defence acquitted it self with great credit and it was due to the sound work in the rearguard that Walsall's initial burst was beaten off. Church played a magnificent game in goal, and once again the best of the Exeter forwards was Ebdon. Ebdon was an attacker without an equal. He was a dangerous and fast raider and an invaluable link in defence as well.Walsall:

So completely were Exeter in command that it came as a great surprise when Walsall took the lead after sixteen minutes of the second half. Following a throw-in Davies headed the ball into the goalmouth and Bambrick scrambled it into the net. Directly from the kick-off the City raced down the field, and equalised through Bussey, who was quick to drive a centre from Rich low into the net out of Tewkesbury's reach. The greasy state of the pitch caused both teams to make errors, but generally Exeter were playing with more method, and eight minutes from the finish Rich scored the winning goal.
