Match 20
4th December 1937
Queen's Park Rangers (a)
Southern League
Ipswich Town (a)
QUEEN'S PARK RANGERS 4 EXETER CITY 0.
Saturday, December 4th 1937, at Loftus Road, Shepherd's Bush.
Attendance 10,000.
On the form they showed against Exeter City the Rangers will win promotion. They won by 4 - 0 and thoroughly deserved their victory. This is in spite of the fact that Exeter's ranks were depleted midway through the first half because of an injury to Bamsey. He left the field and later returned as a limping passenger on the left wing with Angus at centre half and Pope left half. Pluck was Exeter's only asset. By itself it was not sufficient against so good as team as Q.P.R. were today. Church made some wonderful saves when all seemed lost, and he had no chance with any of the goals. Exeter were beaten by a faster and cleverer side which played football far above the Southern Section standard. The second half was contested with sleet falling, and the game was difficult to follow in the bad light.
Scorers:- Bott (2), Fitzgerald, and Cheetham.

Ipswich took the lead after twenty minutes, Edwards heading in from a corner, and this was increased from the penalty spot by Perrett for hands against Topping.
