Ben Clarke led Exeter's attack, from which Millar was absent, in their replayed Southern Section Cup-tie at Swindon today. Angus was also left out, Walker appearing at left half. There were about a thousand spectators.

The opening exchanges were lively. Morton had a shot charged down and when Exeter raided on the left Liddle centred across the goalmouth for Clarke to test Bryan with a smart header. Swindon did the bulk of the attacking and Church saved in turn from Morton, Jones, and Francis. Shadwell kicked off the goal-line from Jones after Francis and Fowler had worked their way through. Brown was caught napping by Morton after 24 minutes, and Fowler, presented with an easy chance, made no mistake.

Church saved well from Francis, and when Exeter replied Ebdon made a valiant effort to break through. Swindon continued to be the more impressive attacking side, and Church effected a good clearance from Lucas. Morton ran through to score a grand goal after thirteen minutes. The game took a sensational turn in the last twenty minutes when Exeter staged a wonderful rally and scored three goals, to the utter consternation of the spectators. Rich (2) and Walker (1) obtained the goals which won the game for the City.
