Christmastide Football
EXETER CITY v. CRYSTAL PALACE
Postponed
Exeter City's match against the Palace at Selhurst Park, on Christmas Day, had to be postponed on account of fog. Ten minutes before kick-off time visibility was perfect, and the players, referee, and linesmen were changed and ready to take the field. A sudden black cloud of fog dropped from nowhere, and completely blotted out the ground. Fog also was responsible for stopping matches at the following Football League centres:- Bolton, Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Wolverhampton, Notts Forest, West Ham, Clapton Orient, Gillingham, Millwall, Northampton, New Brighton, and Port Vale.

On the resumption Exeter pressed hard but after eight minutes Day scored for Colchester from a pass by Prendergast. Ten minutes before the end Cheyne scored Colchester's third goal from Barra- clough's pass.
