Crystal Palace v Exeter City
28th December 1937
Selhurst Park, December 28th, visibility good.
CRYSTAL PALACE 2 (Robson, Pritchard)
EXETER CITY 2 (Bowl 2)
BOWL TWICE RUNS THROUGH PALACE
A Second draw with two goals each indicates evenness between Palace and Exeter City, but really the Selhurst Park club deserve double sympathy. First over the Christmas Day disappointment and then because a victory yesterday in the postponed match was merited but not gained. Fog almost caused another postponement, but this time it hung aloft just admitting the full time to be played without an interval, and only the 7,000 spectators suffered. They had to guess what was happening most of the second half.
Several men dribbled with marked skill and by this means Robson scored the only goal of the first half. Pritchard was credited with the second goal but how he did the trick only those near the spot knew.
Bowl stood out as Exeter's most prominent forward. In fact he was the best player on the field. He worked through the Palace defence and ended two good efforts with equalising goals.
