Match 16
19th November 1938
Bristol City (a)

Southern League
Tunbridge Wells (h)

Saturday, November 19th 1938.

BRISTOL CITY 4 EXETER CITY 1.

Jack Angus, the sole surviving member of Exeter City's team of the illustrious F. A. Cup conquests of 1930-31, returned to the Chiefs' side today, a week before the first round Cup tie with Torquay United at Plainmoor. But unless the Grecians do a lot better next week than they did today and on other recent occasions a lot cannot be given for their chances in the Cup. Exeter were beaten, and badly beaten at that, by Bristol City at Ashton Gate today, and throughout the side there was a marked inability to think and act quickly.
