Exeter enjoyed no luck at Meadow Lane and were beaten by three goals to one, though on the general run of the play it could not be said that they were two goals worse than Notts. But the bright start to the season has not been kept up, so that from being fourth in the table (September 17th) the slipped right down the ladder and are now fourth from the other end.

Martin scored for Notts County in the first half, and increased his side's lead immediately after the resumption. A third goal was registered by Clayton after 55 minutes. With twenty minutes. still to go Rich scored for the City.

Less than a thousand spectators saw the start of the Southern League match at St James's Park between the City Reserves and Guildford, the League leaders.

City Reserves:- Blore; Mellish, Little; Barnes, Coles, Shadwell; Turnbull, Bussey, Jones, Pollard, Sutherley.
Guildford: McPhillips; Foster, Sillett; Calladine, Robinson, Ives; Bytheway, McPheat, J. Brown, McMenemy, R. Brown.

Hand-ball by Mellish resulted in Guildford getting from which R. Brown beat Blore with a hard, low shot. a penalty, Just on the half-time whistle the ball ran loose in the visiting goalmouth and Pollard drove past MoPhillips at close range.
