Folkestone v City Reserves

EXETER CITY 2 WALSALL 2.

Saturday, March 19th 1938, at St James's Park, Exeter.
Attendance 5,000.

For the first ten minutes Exeter City played as if they heading for a runaway victory. An early goal by Bussey, who scored were a "hat trick," put them on the right road. Then defensive lapses by Brown enabled Walsall to score twice to take the lead. Everything came right in the end, however, and Exeter were the deserving winners by the odd goal out of five.

FOLKESTONE 0
EXETER CITY RESERVES 1.

The Reserves were greeted with summerlike weather at Cheriton Road, Folkestone, this afternoon, for their Southern League match. Folkestone did most of the attacking but could make little headway against a strong City defence. Exeter took a surprise lead five minutes from half time, when Farrell shot into an empty net after Blackwell had left his goal. Brilliant goalkeeping by Walker, whose saves included one from a penalty, enabled Exeter to retain their lead.
