CROP OF GOALS
Sparkling Forward Play By Exeter City Reserves
Sparkling forward play by Exeter City Reserves produced a crop of goals in the Southern League match against Folkestone at St. James's Park. The City were two goals ahead in ten minutes, and although the visitors reduced the deficit through Cheesmur, they were no fewer than five goals in arrear at the interval. Up to that point the City had done much as they pleased against almost demoralized opponents, but it was a different story in the second half, when the Folkestone defence settled down, and the home team scored only once.
Pollard, who scored four goals, was a whole-hearted centre-forward. Farrell (2) and Pope were the other Exeter scorers. Blackwell was poorly covered in the visiting goal.
City Reserves: Walker; Brown, Topping; Kavanagh, Davies, S.Barnes; W.Clarke, Farrell, Pollard, McGill, Pope.
Folkestone: Blackwell; Longdon, Brown; Armory, Patrick, Woodward; Halls, French, Cheesemuir, Jenkins, McGregor.
Pollard (3) and Farrell (2) scored Exeter's other goals.
