EXETER CITY RESERVES 2
COLCHESTER 1.
Very different were the conditions today from those of Christmas Day when fog caused the postponement of the Exeter City Reserves v Colchester United fixture, which was staged at St James's Park this afternoon. Sunshine blazed from a clear sky, and the ground was un comfortably hard. Colchester fielded a strong team, including Cheyne, formerly of Chelsea, Mayes, ex-Fulham, and Dunn, ex-Crystal Palace.
City Reserves: Tierney; Brown, Topping; Kavanagh, A.Coles, S.Barnes;
Miles, Farrell, Pollard, McGill, Pope.
Colchester United: Dunn; Fairchild, Wood; Fieldus, Smith, Baker; Hodge, Mayes, Thacker, Cheyne, Crisp.
Exeter deserved to win, but had to fight hard for it. Farrell opened the scoring five minutes after the interval, and Hodge put Colchester on terms from Cheyne's pass. Ten minutes from the end Farrell allowed a pass to go through to Pollard, whose shot from twenty yards was a winner all the way.

GALLANT FIGHT BY FRIERNHAY INSUFFICIENT
Classier Depot Team Wins Senior Cup
Played at Home Park, Plymouth, on April 9th.
Royal Naval Torpedo Depot 2
Friernhay 1.
Friernhay, three times holders, and making their third appear ance in the Devon Senior Cup Final in four years, were defeated by the margin of one goal. It was a hard game in which the Friars played with plenty of dash, but the Depot won by better class football. The Depot took the lead with two quick goals after 15 minutes, first Maddock and then Hunt beating Godbeer, but 12 minutes before half-time Rowe scored for Friernhay. Friernhay had beaten the Cup-holders, Plymouth and Stonehouse Gas Company, in the semi-final after a replay.

BIDEFORD V EXETER CITY RESERVES.
Monday, April 11th 1938.
At the beginning of the season Bideford United played brilliant football to beat Torquay United Reserves by 4-0. In between then and now they have not had a very happy time either in League or Cup soccer, but on Monday evening at the Hansen Sports Ground they recaptured all the old fire and enthusiasm to gain a somewhat surprising victory by one goal to nil against Exeter City's Southern League side. The only goal of the game was scored in the first half by Ken Heywood following good play by Bromell and Shute. The outstanding player in the Bideford team, however, was Roy Southcombe, outside right. Exeter's best players were Tierney, Brown, Leach, Farrell, Pike, and Pope.
