Match 41
15th April 1938
Third Division
Reading v ECFC

Southern League
Exeter City Res v Yeovil

GOOD FRIDAY:
APRIL 15TH 1938.
READING (Watkin) 1
EXETER CITY 0.

Although beaten at Elm Park, Reading, by one goal to nil Exeter City deserved to share the points, and would have done so had the forwards shown reasonable finishing ability. The City had a fair share of the game, which was dominated for the most part by the respective defences. The vital winning goal was scored just before the interval, Watkin netting from Tait's pass. Watkin later failed with a penalty kick, Church saving the shot in grand style. Wallace and Bamsey were convincing defenders for Exeter City.

Reading:- Whittaker; Hayhurst, Ordish; Briggs, Young, Holmes; Watkin, Dean, Tait, McGough, Cook.
Exeter:- Church; B.Clarke, Wallace; Shadwell, Bamsey, Angus; Coulston, Bussey, Bowl, Ebdon, W.Clarke.

EXETER CITY RESERVES (Pollard), 1, YEOVIL (Wilkins), 1.

Yeovil:- Langford; Kingham, Burgess; Manns, Kingdon, Heward; Attley, Kirk, Appleby, Northover, Wilkins.
