BRISTOL ROVERS 4 EXETER CITY 1.
Saturday, January 21st 1932.

There was some excuse for the City's heavy reverse at Bristol, for Clarke, injured a quarter of an hour from the start, was a passenger practically throughout the game. He hobbled about on the left wing with Riley taking over at left back.

City:

At one time this morning there were long odds against the game being played. Pools of water practically covered the Rovers' notoriously heavy pitch, and the local fire brigade were called up to pump the water out. This was done, and then several tons of sand were spread over the pitch. The attendance was 5,000. Midway through the first half Blore fumbled a shot from Turner and Curran dashed in to score an easy goal. The Grecians shuffled their team again for the second half, and when they lined up it was seen that Walker was left back, Ebdon right half, Riley inside left and Clarke continuing on the left wing. Blore, who had saved a penalty by Turner for hand-ball by Brown just before the interval, was beaten by a second penalty, this time successfully taken by O'Mahoney. After Turner had put the Rovers three up Riley scored for Exeter, and Curran got another goal in the last minute.
