Exeter City's victory was the outcome of teamwork, individual skill and staying power. Long before the end it was simply a question of by how many goals the City would win. Only at one stage did Swindon gain the ascendancy. That was the in the opening 20 minutes when the Exeter players were rather inclined to wander out of position. But once the City settled down it became apparent that their fast purposeful methods would pay them a winning dividend. The highlight of the game was Exeter's last goal, scored by Ebdon, the Centre Forward, in midfield, took a pass and ran ahead with two opponents at his heels. He maintained perfect control, sacrificing nothing in speed, and ended with a spectacular burst by crashing the ball into the top of the goal. The sporting crowd rose to acclaim the wonder goal.
