Aldershot Res. (h)

Saturday, April 1st 1939.

ALDERSHOT 2 EXETER CITY 0.

A goal in each half settled Exeter City's fate at Aldershot to day. The home side had much the steadier defence, and they also had the livelier forward line, which more fully appreciated the value of direct methods.
Aldershot:- Greaves; Eastwood and Kelly; Wainwright, Summerbee, and Dixon; Raynor, Chalmers, Ray, Egan, and Proud.
Exeter City:- Church; Halliday and Little; Walker, Angus, Fellowes; Ebdon, Bussey, Bowl, Riley, and C.Sutherley.

Chris Sutherley made a useful first appearance for the "Chiefs, but Ebdon was out of place on the right wing. Exeter were denied a penalty when a shot from Ebdon was handled by a defender.
