Notts:

Ebdon got the all-important goal midway through the second half. The City were thoroughly deserving winners, although Notts, who made their strongest bid in the closing stages, were trifle a unlucky when Martin had a goal disallowed for offside. Riley, a former Notts player, was a bundle of energy in the City attack, and the "star" forward of the game. He worked skilfully a and tirelessly throughout. Ebdon, Sutherley, Angus, and Church were the other City players to impress. Mills, who played for Notts County at Exeter in November, 1930, in one of the most memorable matches ever seen at St James's, was making his 400th appearance for his club today.

Rich opened the scoring for Exeter, but Cheltenham gradually got the upper hand, and Prior equalised for them. Cheltenham then took the lead, Welsford receiving from Yuill to cut in and beat Blore from close range. Exeter's second point was obtained by Rich after the interval.
