The star forward in the Exeter City team which accounted for their Devon rivals at Plainmoor was Ray Wright, who is on Wolverhampton Wanderers' open-to-transfer list.It was his first visit to Devon and it is hoped that he will sign on for Exeter City. He is a powerfully-built six footer, reminiscent in style of David Jack, and his play did much to enliven the Grecians' attack. Both goals were scored in the second half, the first by Wright, who brought the ball under instant control with one foot, pivotted, and drove it hard and low into the corner of the net with the other. The City's second goal was obtained by Regan, who is proving to be an outside left of more than average ability. In addition to the contribution of Wright, previously mentioned, the thrust of Ebdon and the scheming of Hydes were features of the City forward line.
