Exeter City's fall from grace at Ninian Park can be summed up in a sentence. The Grecians were outpaced and outmatched by a Cardiff

team which played classic football at high speed. Cardiff kept the ball on the move all the time, positional switches were carried out automatically and passes invariably reached their intended destination.
Only a team of exceptional quality would have offered a real challenge to Cardiff on this form. Although the season is young Cardiff City have the "promotion look" all over them. Baker and Richards gave Cardiff a well earned lead before half time, afterwards the rout was completed by three more goals from Richards, Allen, and Clarke.

Final Score
Cardiff City 5-0 Exeter City

Southern League

Played at St James's Park, Exeter.

CITY RESERVES 1 (Holman)
CHELTENHAM 3 (Goring, Pains, Ray)

Exeter City Reserves scored first in their Southern League match against Cheltenham Town at St. James's Park, but were subsequently outplayed and defeated by three goals to one.

A better balanced side and combining cleverly, the visitors quickly recovered from the early reverse and the result was seldom in doubt. They were ably led by Goring, who scored one of the goals, the others being obtained by Pains and Ray. The home team, which included six amateurs, carried out several smart raids, but lacked cohesion. Their only goal came from Holman.

City team:- Todd; Lang and Long; Holcroft, Angus, and Jordan; Holman, Rue, Jones, Vaughan, and Challis.
