When Harry Holman, a part-time professional centre forward, shot his second grand goal, the feats of Harold Blackmore were recalled. Twenty-three years ago Blackmore, another local sharpshooter, arose from obscurity to fame because of his deadly and powerful marksmanship. Holman, having already scored once in his first match for the City seniors, took his chance perfectly, crashing the ball past Weare and into the roof of the net from about fifteen yards. Holman, of Buddle Estate, Exeter, and East Devon League, owed his rapid promotion owing to the fact that Exeter City have three centre forwards on the injured list, namely Ebdon, Smart, and Owen. Holman, who is now a part-time professional, has played many times for the City Reserves at outside right. Exeter City this afternoon were a team of moods, for after leading at the interval by three clear goals they allowed Bristol Rovers to dictate the course of the game in the second half.
