Convincing Exeter Win Over Gloucester
Exeter City Reserves deserved their 5-1 Southern League victory over Gloucester City at St. James' Park. Indeed, with better finishing, they would have won by an even more impressive margin. Hard kicking and willingness to shoot contributed to the City's triumph on a waterlogged pitch. Their scorers were Holman (2), Hutchings (2), and Challis, while Stenton got Gloucester's solitary goal.
Outstanding for Exeter were Singleton in goal, Pearce (left-back), and Mustard and D. Hutchings in attack, while all the City halves did well. A crowd of 2,500 saw the game in driving rain.
Team:- Singleton; Warren, Pearce; Fellowes, Davey, Angus; Mustard, Hutchings, Holman, Long, Challis.
Scorers:- Hutchings 2, Holman 2, Challis.
