The Exeter City v Bournemouth match, a rough and tumble in keeping with l several clashes between these clubs, had run twenty minutes of its scheduled course when Regan went in to tackle Tagg. Regan came off second best. Ambulance men and trainers carried him off, and he was later taken to Boscombe Hospital with a suspected broken left leg. Fortunately, the X-ray examination proved negative. The second casualty was Hanford, who broke a wrist-bone and will not play again this season.
Reduced to nine effective men for two-thirds of the game Exeter City played pluckily but were unable to cope with the numerical superior ity of the opposition.
They were on level terms until 25 minutes from the finish, but then Bournemouth scored three more goals to win by a margin they hardly deserved. Cutting, Blood, and Fellowes were the pick of Exeter's team.
