September 25th 1947.
QUEEN'S PARK RANGERS 3 (Hatton 2, Durrant)
EXETER CITY 1 (Ebdon)
Half-time Rangers 2 City 1.
League 3rd Division South, at Shepherd's Bush, London.
Attendance 12,000.
Rangers: Allen; Dudley, Reay; Powell, Smith, Chapman; Hartburn, McEwan, Durrant, Hatton, Pattison.
City: Singleton; Thompson, Johnstone;
Bartholomew, Gibson, Walker; Smart, Mackay, Ebdon, Evans, Regan.
Though beaten at Shepherd's Bush the City players ought not to be discouraged. The Rangers have won all six of their home games very convincingly and are the strongest team in the League. But Exeter gave them the hardest fight they have had this season and until they scored, after 17 minutes, were not playing so well as the Grecians. Then the City defenders got spread-eagled for Hatton to convert one of Pattison's centres. Much the same thing occurred when Hatton got the second goal from a free-kick by Smith. Ebdon replied with a goal for Exeter, and after 17 minutes of the second half Durrant netted the Rangers' third goal, the best one of the match.
- Their latest win gives the Rangers their 19th point out of 20. Their record so far is played 10, won 9, drawn 1, goals for 26, against 5.
