League 3rd Division South, at St James's Park.
Attendance 7,718, receipts £580. 19s. 6d.
Exeter City: Singleton; Johnstone, Rowe; Bartholomew, Gibson, Walker; Hutchings, Evans, Dymond, Mackay, Regan.
Referee:- Mr W.J.Edwards, of Yeovil. Aldershot:- Reynolds; Rogers, Sheppard; Sherwood, Rowland, Cropley; Hassell, McNicol, Brooks, White, Sinclair.
With Mackay in brilliant form Aldershot's defence was over-run in this, the most one-sided game seen at Exeter this season. The City won by 40 and could have doubled their tally of goals. Aldershot were barren of constructive ideas and without any defensive method. Seldom did Brooks and his colleagues advance in a line, and it was not until the game had reached three quarter time that Aldershot gained the first of the two corners they forced in this one way contest. The strength of the Exeter attack was the left-wing partnership of Mackay and Regan. The former was the outstanding player in the game and Regan, quick to respond to his partner's prompting, was a constant menace to Rogers, who was too slow and frequently caught out of position.

Merthyr Tydfil 4 City Reserves 1.
RESERVES BEATEN
City Reserves' sluggish defence was often badly shaken during the first half of their Southern League game at Merthyr Tydfil, where they were beaten 4-1.
Following an early score, it seemed as if Merthyr might overwhelm Exeter by their speed and dash. After the interval, play was more even, although Merthyr quickly went further ahead. Exeter improved, and provided flashes of delightful football. Gran- ville and Gould on the wings tried hard. but were often unsupported when near goal, while centre-half Davey did well to completely subdue Jarman.
Bob McIllvennys tricky play on the right wing exposed Exeter's weaknesses, and his two goals were only a slight indication of the havoc he wrought in splitting the visitors' defence.
Thompson gave Exeter their score from a penalty, while Pat McIllvenny and Powell increased Merthyr's lead. Hoyle was sound in goal.
Team:- Hoyle; Coles, Thompson; Jeffrey, Davey, P.Fallon; Granville, Grant, Smart, Wright, W. Fallon.
Scorers:- McIlvenny 3, Powell for Merthyr; Thompson from a penalty, for the Reserves.
Played at Penydarren Park, Merthyr Tydfil.
