Soccer history was made at Exeter when the City played their Third Division fixture with Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic. It was the first time on record that the City had played at St James's Park on a Good Friday. In the past, Exeter City have always been away on the Good Friday and the usual practice has been for the return contest to take place at the Park on the Easter Monday. The Bournemouth captain, Fred Wilson, made his one mistake to-day, when with only four minutes to play he sent the ball through his own goal to give the City a point they scarcely deserved. He tried to intercept a low shot from Regan and was beaten by the spinning ball which skidded off his foot into the back of the net. This goal levelled the one headed by Milligan from a corner taken by MacKenzie in the 52nd minute of a fast game which was to some extent spoiled by a strong diagonal wind. The worst miss of the match was made by Walker, who forced his way past several players and was alone in the penalty area when he put his final shot over the bar with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Bournemouth, who are one point behind Queen's Park Rangers in the promotion race, kept the ball on the floor and were unfortunate not to win.
