Although Exeter City's players were subjected to more travelling in the Easter week-end it was Boscombe who looked a tired and worn out team before the finish of their home match on Easter Monday. So strongly did the City fight back in the second half that had they saved a point no-one could have complained. Instead they were beaten by the odd goal of three. Boscombe dictated the pace of the play up to the interval, but were fortunate to secure a couple of goals with 18-yard shots by Milligan and MacKenzie which took Singleton by surprise. After half-time the game underwent a complete change. Exeter at once seized the initiative and never relaxed their grip till the finish. Badly rattled, the Bournemouth team was only saved by the desperate safety-first tactics of a much harassed defence. Most of the danger to them came from the clever combination of Regan and Mackay, and it was one of the many astute moves begun by Mackay which led to his partner getting Exeter's goal. Johnstone was excellent in Exeter's defence, and Bartholomew, Davey and Jeffrey all played a vital part in the second half subjection of a Bournemouth team which is well in the running for promotion.

City Reserves 1 (Ebdon) Dartford 0,
at St James's Park.
Leading Exeter City Reserves' attack after a long absence, Ebdon proved that he has not lost his skill- the goal he scored against Dartford at St. James' Park, yesterday gave his side a narrow but deserved victory.
Ebdon chased a loose ball, bustled his way past Stratton, and shot hard and wide of the goalkeeper from eight yards. Exeter's attack, in which Grant impressed, needed more thrust on the wings.
