Exeter City's performance at Watford was uninspiring, the whole team being too slow and lacking in determination. On a hard, dry pitch, with a lively ball requiring first-time methods Exeter's players stood and waited for the bounce, whereas the Watford men secured most of the possession and consequently dictated the game.

EXETER RESERVES DISAPPOINTING

Exeter City Reserves gave a disappointing display in their Southern League match against Chelmsford City, at St. James' Park.

Foreman, a virile and clever centre-forward, got Chelmsford's goals, but it was by no means a one-man show." Plunkett, in par- ticular, and the other forwards, were far superior to Exeter's attack, which never played as a unit. There were flaws in the defence, and Thompson, at left-back, was below form.

Sutherland scored Exeter's consolation goal.

Team:- Hoyle; Warren, Thompson; P.Fallon, Coles, Walker; Boylin, Vaughan, Sutherland, Wright, W.Fallon.
Scorers:-
Sutherland for Exeter,
Foreman 3 for Chelmsford City.
