Exeter City's experiment of playing Harrower at centre-forward was a failure against Aldershot on Wednesday evening. He was lacking in weight and speed and blotted out of the game by Rowland.

ALDERSHOT:

The City, though twice in the lead, were fortunate to save a point through a penalty three minutes from the finish. There were too many gaps in the home team. Smart and Mackay lacked directness, Davey was irresolute and Bartholomew has seldom played a worse game. After a promising start, which brought a goal through Smart, who ran in to shoot past Searle from Regan's centre, Exeter fell away badly and degenerated into a collection of individuals. Aldershot, persistent throughout, levelled the score through Hobbs early in the second half. Mackay regained the lead for Exeter, then Sears equalised and McNicol put the visitors in front. Three minutes from the end a penalty was awarded Exeter when Smart was fouled by Rogers. Amidst great excitement Bartholomew made no mistake from the penalty spot.
