LEYTON ORIENT 5 (Neary 2, Naylor, Dryden 2)
EXETER CITY 2 (Bartholomew, Mackay)
Half-time Orient 2 City 0.
Attendance 20,000.
The two-fold reasons for Exeter City's 5-2 crash at Leyton was the inability to take chances before the interval and a bad defensive collapse in the second half.

Exeter's forwards, dainty in approach work, were shot-shy near goal and could not outwit the quick tackling Orient defenders. Less expected were the many errors which the City defence committed in the second half. Hoyle did not inspire confidence in goal, while Rowe was frequently floundering. Coles, pressed into service because of injuries to Gibson and Walker, did not fill the bill as a centre half. The only member of the side to keep going consistently was the industrious Evans at left half.

CITY RESERVES 2 (Hutchings, Johnston)
BATH CITY 1.
There was very little good football - in the Southern League match at St. James' Park, won by Exeter City Reserves. What there was came from the Reserves in the nature of ap- proach work.
Hutchings's opening goal for Exeter was one of a few good scoring efforts. The second goal came from Johnston. McCulloch, leading the Bath attack, headed past Singleton to reduce his side's arrears
