Exeter City's 3-1 win against Leyton Orient was flattering and un convincing, for the inside forwards were seldom in position and the wing half backs slumped badly in the second half. The last 30 minutes were decidedly in favour of the Orient, for the Londoners toiled pluckily despite having to rearrange their forces when Neary was injured soon after the interval.

ORIENT:
Durrant tried hard to infuse life and method into the City forwards, and his dashing sorties pleased the crowd, but too often he was not well supported. Durrant scored Exeter's first goal 15 minutes after the start, when he shot low and hard into the corner of the net from a shrewd pass, all along the ground, from Regan. Three goals were scored in the second half, by Mackay and Harrower for the City and finally by Gray for Leyton Orient.
