CITY:

The hard ground and light ball beat most attempts by the Grecians to play constructive football, but the visitors in patches showed more craft than the home side. Hutchings and Regan were in good form and Walker battled splendidly against the dangerous Constantine. Gibson and Powell were efficient wing half-backs, Johnstone was the best full-back on the field, and Hoyle's goalkeeping was faultless. Where the City failed was in the centre, Durrant being unable to make any impression on Morton, the pillar of Millwall's defence.
