Match 40 |
ECFC v Walsall | 08.04.1950

SATURDAY, APRIL 8TH 1950. Exeter City v Walsall

In the mood, Bill Harrower is a deightful footballer. He had one of his best days today in the match against Walsall, scored two goals, just missed his "hat-trick," and made countless passes which were of the defence-splitting kind. Harrower was a last-minute stand-in because the injury sustained by Regan yesterday enforced a re-shuffling of Exeter City's attack.

EXETER CITY 2 (Harrower 2)
WALSALL 1 (Devlin) ....

Half-time City 1 Walsall 0.
Attendance 10,000.

City: Singleton; Johnstone, Clark; Fallon, Goddard, Davey; Mackay, Smart, Smith, Harrower, McClelland.

Walsall:- Lewis; Jones, Skidmore; Walters, Russon, Green; Condie, Dearson, Foulkes, Devlin, Betts.

Referee:- Mr E.S.Vickery, of Bristol.

The City v Walsall match was far more entertaining than the Western "derby" game with Bristol Rovers on Good Friday.
The forwards shot more often and the 2-1 victory was another big step towards League safety.
