Biographical Text
Stanley Siddall had played a good standard of football in and around Cheshire before joining Exeter City as a professional in 1921. A centre-half for the reserves in the Southern League he never played for the first-team whilst at St James’ Park.
Originally with Altrincham in the Lancashire Combination, he had been with Winsford United in the Cheshire League since 1919 before arriving at Exeter two years later. In the navy during the war, he had played in the London area when available and, while with the Grecians, his route to the first-team was normally blocked by John Mitton.
