Christmas Day
Monday, Dec. 25th 1950. League Division 3:
Aldershot v Exeter City.

Two goals up in twenty minutes against the City on Christmas Day, Aldershot looked good enough to win easily, but the Grecians put up a grand fight after an injury to Singleton, who went to outside right on his return, McClelland taking over in goal.

Aldershot:- Warnes; Rogers, Jefferson; Laird, White, Cropley; Hobbs, Menzies, Gormley, Woodward, Flint.
Exeter City:- Singleton; Clark, Rowe; Fallon, Doyle, Davey; McClelland, Lynn, Smith, Mackay, Regan.

The home side's first goal was scored with a penalty, awarded when Clark saved a certain Aldershot goal by handling under the bar a shot from Flint. Woodward also obtained the second, converting in full stride a low centre from Flint. Both of Exeter's goals came from corner kicks and were scored by Smith in 34 minutes and the injured Singleton in 41 minutes. Between these two goals Fallon and Menzies were both knocked out in a collision, and both players went to outside-left. Gormley scored twice for Aldershot, who finally won by four goals to two, in the second half.
