Match 39
10th Match 1951
Crystal Palace (h)

Southern League
Headington United (a)

EXETER CITY v
CRYSTAL PALACE,

MARCH 10TH 1951.

Attendance: 6474
The team spirit which was evident when Exeter City were enjoying a successful run of victories before and just after Christmas now seems to be missing. The heart of the side beats faintly now, and some of the players appeared to have lost their zest for football. In the home matches with Gillingham, Port Vale, and now Crystal Palace, and in the recent away game with Bristol Rovers, the City were a poor team in which the strivings of the few failed because of the dilatoriness of the majority. The trio of enthustiastic and capable toilers in today's match were Smith, Goddard, and Singleton. The rest varied from moderate to worse.
