BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION v EXETER CITY.
SATURDAY, MARCH 17TH 1951.
Thrashed badly, Exeter City again had most of the faults and few of the virtues against Brighton on the Goldstone Ground, where they were beaten by 4 goals to 1 this afternoon. Exeter were hopelessly inferior to the foe in practically every position. Not one man in the beaten team played well, and most of them were sadly below 3rd Division standard.

Superior in every department
Hereford United earned a convincing 5-2 victory over Exeter Reserves, a result which in no way flattered the visitors' clever combination. Indeed, if the ground had not been almost a quagmire Hereford might have doubled their score. In these conditions their neat passing was all the more remarkable, and Best, in particular, rarely put a ball wrong. Dare opened the scoring for Exeter, but Hereford quickly equalised and went ahead with two goals by Thompson. Exeter were flattered to be level at the interval obtaining an equaliser through Short. But Hereford never faltered after the resumption and netted three more goals through Dymond and Duggan (2).
City Reserves 2 (Dare, Short)
Hereford 5.
