EXETER CITY V BOURNEMOUTH.
EASTER MONDAY,
MARCH 26TH 1951.
No sterner battle has been seen at St James's Park since the war than that between the City and Bournemouth. In a contest bearing no resemblance to the usual Easter Monday struggle between tired and leg-weary teams, the City stayed on grandly to turning seeming defeat into a 2-1 victory with goals from Smith and Hutchings in the final quarter of an hour. Those closing stages were packed with drama, and it was a welcome change to see the City fighting back with such resolution against the vigorous Bournemouth opposition.
