TWO NEWCOMERS IN EXETER'S TEAM AND A THIRD SIGNED ON.

In the Exeter City side, which did not arrive at Swindon until thirty minutes before the kick-off, were two players who were making their Third Division debuts for the club. They were Dick Walton, signed on December 6th from Leyton Orient, and Sam Booth. Walton, who is a full-back, was given the leadership of the forwards, whilst Booth was at right half. Exeter City today signed another new player, Ivan Armes, wing half-back, of Norwich City.

SWINDON TOWN 3 EXETER CITY 1.

Saturday, December 22nd, at Wiltshire County Ground.

Attendance 8,614, receipts £743. 19s. 6d.

This was a game of missed opportunities by both sides, and the victory could have gone either way until the last twenty minutes. Before the interval Exeter had more than an even share of the exchanges and they continued in the game with a definite chance until near the close.

Swindon: Uprichard; Hunt, May; Kaye, Hudson, Gray; Lunn, Millar, Owen, Betteridge, Bain.

City:- Singleton; Warren, Rowe; Booth, Goddard, Davey; Digby, Smart, Walton, Mackay, McClelland.

After nineteen minutes Digby, receiving from Walton, scored for Exeter with a shot from ten yards which flew into the net off the underside of the crossbar. May then ran nearly half the length of the field with the ball to finally beat Singleton with a low cross-shot from outside the penalty area, to put his side on level terms.

Bain and Owen scored the Railwaymens' winning goals late in the game. Walton, the new player, accomplished little of note, and appears not to be the answer to the centre-forward problem.

CITY RESERVES 1 WEYMOUTH 1.

A badly-directed goal-kick by Salter, who put the ball straight to the feet of Naylor, gave the visitors a soft goal in the Southern League match between the Reserves and Weymouth at St James's Park. The City equalised midway through the second half when a centre from Hutchings was deflected by Taylor into his own goal.

City Reserves:- Salter; Reid, Doyle; Harrower, Carter, Coley; - McGrath, Wilkins, Smith, Hutchings, Howells.
