THE "GOAL RUSH": THREE IN TEN MINUTES.

SHREWSBURY TOWN BEATEN AT ST JAMES'S PARK.

Seven thousand spectators at the City club's ground saw Walton kick-off towards the St James's Road end and launch attacks, first on the left, then on the right.
Shrewsbury's defence, hard pressed from the start, capitulated in the fourth minute when McClelland drove the ball home from twelve yards. This was the start of the "goal rush," Depear equalising, followed by Smart, with a header, bringing the total to three, all within ten minutes.

Nothing further was scored till the second half, Mackay then accepting a capital opening cut out by McClelland after three minutes. McClelland put on Exeter's fourth goal and his own second after twenty one minutes. Twenty minutes from the finish Brown headed a goal for the visitors from Reagan's centre.

The final tally was 5 - 4 in favour of Hastings. Exeter's goalscorers were Wilkins, Harrower, and Smith (2).

Team:- Salter; Reid, Clark; Fallon, Carter, Booth; McGrath, Wilkins, Smith, Harrower, Regan.
