Saturday, March 8th, at Vale Park Stadium, Burslem.
Attendance 12,300.
Port Vale: King; Turner, Potts; Hayward, Cheadle, Sproson; Bennett, Griffiths, Steele, Mullard, Hulligan.
Exeter City:- Singleton; Warren, Rowe; Davey, Doyle, Harrower; Hutchings, Smith, Walton, Mackay, McClelland.

Exeter City, with their new manager watching them from a seat in the grandstand, were overwhelmed for long periods against Port Vale today, and were finally conquered by three goals to nil. Davey won the toss, and Freddie Steele kicked off on a heavily-sanded ground. In the 12th minute the expertise of Steele led to his side gaining the lead, the ball being put through perfectly to Hulligan, who merely had to cut in and drive it past the powerless Singleton from a few yards' range. The second goal was added by Griffiths before the interval and the third by Steele himself twenty minutes from the finish.

CITY RESERVES 3 LOVELL'S. ATHLETIC 3.
Lovells set the pace from the commencement and took the lead fourteen minutes later when Ridsdale converted a long centre from Paul. The last named scored the visitors' second goal in 37 minutes. Eight minutes after the restart Howells reduced Exeter's arrears, then the equaliser, by Wilkins, after a shot from Coley had struck the crossbar, was followed by a low drive by Howells from Mitchell's pass, to enter the net and put the City in front.
Lovells were not beaten, however, and in further attacks they scored again through Gorin to earn a share of the spoils in an entertaining match.
City Reserves:- Salter; Reid, Clark; Booth, Goddard, Coley; Brown, Wilkins, Howells, Mitchell, Regan.
CITY RESERVES SCORE EIGHT GOALS.
BARRY TOWN OUTCLASSED AT ST JAMES'S PARK.
In the rearranged Southern League match, played at St James's Park to day, Barry Town suffered their heaviest defeat of the season while the City Reserves obtained their biggest win.
Ten goals were scored, eight of them by Exeter, and four of the eight by Ray Howells, who, since transferring from outside-left to centre forward, has emerged as a consistent marksman.

Wednesday, March 12th,
at St James's Park.
Attendance 2,000.
Exeter started off in high gear and inside one minute were a goal ahead,
Regan scoring.
Six minutes later they increased their lead through Howells. Stung by these reverses Barry retaliated and a clever movement on the right wing ended in Dyke reducing the leeway.
The next incident of note was an unsavoury one, Coley receiving some
barracking even from his own crowd for a quite unnecessary foul tackle on Cairney, who had to be carried off. Against the ten visitors Exeter piled on the pressure, Howells beating Morris for the third goal, which was disputed by Barry on the grounds of offside.
Dyke then scored for the Welehmen from Richards's pass, but before the interval was reached a defensive error in the visitors' ranks enabled Howells to break through on his own to complete the "hat trick" and Exeter's fourth goal.
Cairney resumed for Barry after the interval, and his team set about the task of reducing their arrears. Hanbury and Richards both put in goalworthy attempts, which were saved by Salter, but when Richards did find the net with a good header this goal was disallowed for offside. Barry now went to pieces, and further goals for the City were obtained by Regan, Mitchell, Howells, and Booth.
City Reserves:- Salter; Reid, Clark; Booth, Goddard, Coley; Brown, Wilkins, Howells, Mitchell, Regan.
Barry: Morris; Williams, Manning; Cairney, Foxton, Hill; Dyke, Kiernan, Richards, Jenkins, Hanbury.
Referee:- Mr Fox.
