Half-time 2 - 0.
Orient: Groombridge; Charlton, Evans; Blizzard, Aldous, Brown; Jones, Rees, Pacey, Blair, Poulton.

Referee: Mr N. C. Taylor of Westbury.
No excuse can be made for Exeter City today. They were out-paced, and well beaten by a vastly superior side. The match was a duel between the overworked Exeter defence and the lively Orient forwards for the major part.
The Orient, as well as being more skilful, were faster and more deter mined. Exeter's attack was seldom seen. Dailey had no chance, for he had bad support from his inside colleagues. The poor form of Knight and Murphy was in fact the chief of Exeter's many weaknesses. Pacey gave Leyton Orient the lead ten minutes after the change of ends when he hooked the ball past Kelly following a corner on the right. The second goal, thirteen minutes later, was a tragedy for Rowe, who in attempting to pass back to Kelly put the ball into his own net. Stan Charlton, who last season was on Exeter's books as an amateur, was at right-back in the Orient team. His father, the one-time Exeter City captain, watched the game from the grandstand.
Attendance 12,800.
