EXETER CITY 5
(Dailey, Mackay, Regan, McClelland, Murphy)
BOURNEMOUTH AND BOSCOMBE ATHLETIC 1
(Cheney)
Half-time 4 - 1.
This was Exeter City's best display since the opening matches of the season. Heavy rain in the morning had turned the pitch into a morass, but Exeter's forwards revelled in the mud, and none more 80 than Murphy, who was the master-schemer in the home attack. His passing was immaculate and always to the advantage of his colleagues. Dailey was a dashing leader, and apart from scoring the first goal, contributed in full measure to the building up moves which led to the other four.
Exeter City:- Kelly; Walton, Rowe; Booth, Goddard, Davey; McClelland, Mackay, Dailey, Murphy, Regan.
Bournemouth:- Godwin; Drummond, Fisher; Woodward, Hardy, Neave; Harrison, Buchanan, Cross, Cheney, Eyre.
Referee: Mr C.W.Bucknall of Birmingham. Linesmen: Messrs H.A.Roberts and F.J.Toms.
Bournemouth began well and took the lead in eleven minutes, but after Dailey had put Exeter level the City got three goals within a period of six minutes.
Exeter, now with a commanding lead, did not let up, and after Godwin had saved at point-blank range from Dailey the next attack ended with Regan scoring, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Murphy, who was the best player on the field, earned his reward by scoring Exeter's last goal five minutes from time.
Attendance 10,000,
receipts £850.

GRAVESEND UNITED 0 CITY RESERVES 0
Exeter Reserves were the better side at Gravesend and tried hard to snatch the lead in the second half when a shot by Howells struck the side netting. Then Mitchell put the ball over the bar when he should have scored.
Both sides were weak in finishing and the play did not often reach high standard.
City Reserves: - Reed; Anderson, Bolt; Harvey, Doyle, Armes; Mitchell, Knight, Howells, Fallon, Digby.
